Primary School SponsorshipsThe students in this program are primarily introduced to Nafasi Project from the Usa River Township about one hour outside of Arusha, Tanzania. To learn more about the living condition of Usa River please read Communities We Serve.
Sponsored children are moved to English Medium Schools throughout Arusha. These schools are privately owned and offer both day and boarding school. They are broken into 3 sections: nursery, primary, and secondary level. A placement test is administered upon registration to determine a student’s class level. Nafasi Project staff works to evaluate each child’s family life and living conditions to determine if day or boarding school is required. Sponsors will follow along their students education, receiving pictures and report cards along the way. |
What is English Medium School? |
English Medium schools are highly respected throughout Tanzania and truly prepare students for the brightest future with the most opportunities possible. “English medium” means that all subjects are taught in the English language. Teachers, staff, and students are all expected to speak English whenever on school grounds. Schools are conducted this way to introduce student’s to a second language that is not just one subject per day it is the medium in which they learn. Learning in a second language is meant to challenge students, and results in these schools providing one of the highest qualities of education available in Tanzania.

Primary School Fees: Day - $650 Boarding - $750 ** A one-time fee of $50 USD is required of all boarding sponsors to cover initial boarding requirements, listed below ** (Mattress, 1 blanket, 2 sheets, mosquito net, laundry soap, body soap, head shaving fee, 1 ream of paper) School fees can be paid annually or by term, twice a year. Partner sponsorship are available, in order to allow sponsors to split the cost with a friend, family member, small group, or buisness. Nafasi Project is a registered 501(c)3 company in the United States of America, all donation are tax deductible.
